  • FAQs

Here are some of our most frequently asked questions.

1. Are appointments required?

Appointments are not required but if you are interested in adding a specific puppy to your family, it is best to make an appointment. Some puppies may be limited in playtime to receive adequate rest. If you have further questions, please call us at 703.378.7849 or send us a message on our Contact page.

2. How often do you get new puppies?

We try to have new puppies arrive here every week! It all depends on our availability and the amount of space we have available to fit their needs. We encourage customers to keep checking every week, as the first place we list our new arrivals is on our Available Puppy page.

3. Where do your puppies come from?

Where your puppy comes from is something every responsible pet owner should be aware of. Knowing your pet’s background will help you predict health and behavior, and thorough research is the best way to support ethical breeders.

We exclusively work with USDA-licensed, humane breeders and distributors who have not received a direct violation on their latest inspection report. We visit breeders on-site to verify they meet our high sanitation and humane breeding standards. Our pups also receive extensive health screens while being at our breeders, and are vaccinated and dewormed. We provide our breeders’ information with every puppy. Learn more on our Breeder Page.

4. Are the puppies for adoption?

Our puppies are for sale.

5. What breeds do you have?

We carry a variety of different breeds, all of which vary in size and temperament.  We have many options to choose from. Our Puppy Experts will happily help you find the best fit for you and your family. You can check out our latest arrivals to see a current list of what puppies are currently available!

6. Which breeds are good for people with allergies?

Hypoallergenic breeds have minimum to no shedding, and are more compatible with people with allergies. Some of our popular hypoallergenic breeds are Bichon Frises, Poodles, Mini Schnauzers, Yorkies, Maltese, and more! Learn more about our many puppy breeds.

7. Have the puppies had all their vaccinations?

Yes! Our puppies are fully vaccinated while they are in our store. If they are above 12 weeks old, there will be some vaccines which will need to be given when you take them to their first vet visit, but they are covered under our warranty.

8. Will my puppy be microchipped?

Yes, all of our puppies are microchipped as well and registered with the AKC Reunite database.

9. What do I need to do to play with a puppy?

Simple! Tell one of our Puppy experts which puppy you are interested in, and they will arrange for you to play with it in one of our Puppy rooms. Always use a dog toy, and not your hand when playing with puppies. This way, you can direct their attention to a toy when they want to teethe or tug. Make sure young children are always supervised when playing with puppies.

10. Can I bring my dog with me?

We encourage our customers to bring in their dog to meet their possible new best friend! We love to see how your dog interacts with our puppies, and to see which puppy is the best fit for your whole family!

16. Is XO PUPS a Puppy Mill?

XO PUPS is NOT a Puppy Mill, nor do we work with puppy mills. XO PUPS is against breeders and pet stores who support them. Learn more about our position on our No Puppy Mill Pledge page.

A puppy mill is a breeder or facility that may overbreed, neglect, or mistreat their animals to sell as many puppies as possible with little to no regard for the health and treatment of their animals. Because puppy mills don’t take the extra time or resources to ensure the health of their animals, they can charge much lower prices than reputable breeders.

Remember, a breeder who cares about the health of a puppy will care about who they go home with. They will NOT sell a puppy to someone without either meeting them first or doing a background check. You should keep this in mind when you consider having a puppy shipped to you.

17. Why don’t the puppies have names?

We understand that many of our customers already have the perfect name in mind, so we leave that part up to their new parents! Although sometimes we do catch ourselves giving them nicknames!
